Product Description
These stunning miniature sculptures were developed in Japan where they were invaluable for several centuries until pockets were invented! Everyday objects such as purses, pipes, tobacco pouches or writing implements would be hung from the sash of traditional dress and secured with a toggle or Netsuke.

These items were worn as a personal statement and frequently decorated to suit personal taste with a wide range of buddhas, gods, dragons, animals, insects and fish.
